Soft Borders é o 4o Congresso e Festival de Artes de Novas Mídias da Upgrade! International Network, que acontece em São Paulo em duas etapas: o congresso em out/2010 e o festival em nov/2011. As edições anteriores foram em New York (USA), Ocklahoma City (USA) e Skopje (Macedônia).
O evento reune artistas, curadores e pesquisadores de diversos países para apresentar e discutir as artes de novas mídias, no contexto internacional e local de cada país, especialmente o Brasil, que é a sede da presente edição. A exposição conta com trabalhos nacionais curados por Silvia Laurentiz e trabalhos internacionais curados por Basak Senova e Elena Veljanovska.
O tema Soft Borders discute a dissolução de bordas entre os diversos campos e áreas do saber e do viver, a contaminação de uns nos outros, especialmente no que se refere a arte-ciência-tecnologia.
Não é fácil realizar um evento desse porte, mas graças à participação apaixonada de todos os envolvidos, o resultado é recompensador. É um grande prazer reunir tantas pessoas interessantes do cenário artístico contemporâneo fomentando uma discussão tão rica e multi-disciplinar em nosso país.
Soft Borders is the 4th Upgrade! International Network Conference and Festival on New Media Art, that happens in São Paulo city, Brazil, in two parts: the conference in oct2010 and the festival in nov/2011. The previous editions happened in New York (USA), Ocklahoma City (USA) and Skopje (Macedônia).
The event gathers artists, curators and researchers from several countries to present and discuss the field of new media art, in the international and local contexts, especially in Brazil, country that is hosting the present edition of the event. The exhibition counts with works curatared by Silvia Laurentiz (Brazilian artworks) and Basak Senova and Elena Veljanovska (international artworks).
The Soft Borders theme aim to discuss the borders dissolutions between the many fields of the knowledge and life, the contamination of the one another, particularly regarding the relationship between art-science-technology.
It is not easy to organise an event like that but thanks to the passionate participation of all people involved, the result is rewarding. It is a great pleasure to gather so many interesting people in the contemporary artistic scenary providing a very rich and multi-disciplinary discussion in our contry.
